Insurance is the talk of the real estate industry in BC, where recent market changes have had an impact on most real estate owners.

Join the panelists for a closer look at what is behind recent market changes, emerging trends and what might lay ahead. This seminar will cover the state of the ever-changing insurance market, how building owners and unit owners are directly impacted, and outline how building maintenance, loss control and risk management can help with insurance affordability and availability in the future.

Speakers:

Danielle Russell Client Executive, Vice President, Partner, CapriCMW

Danielle has been with CapriCMW for over ten years and has experience as both a Broker and Client Executive. Her role is to provide risk management advice to her clients while overseeing the placement and servicing of their insurance program.

She handles a diverse practice including contractors, developers and property management companies.

Danielle holds both a Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) and Chartered Risk Manager (CRM) Designation.

 

 

 

Leslie Haycock Managing Broker, Select Real Estate

Leslie has been in the property management industry for over 17 years. First serving as a council member in a Strata Corporation that was periodically self-managed. Before becoming a licensed strata manager, Leslie had several businesses, providing bookkeeping services and provided insurance replacement services to the insurance industry. This allowed her insight into the accounting and insurance aspects of Strata. Since becoming licensed, Leslie has specialized in new construction projects, sections and larger, high rental strata corporations. Over the past few years, she has averaged 1400 units in her portfolio. She has also been involved in training and creating training programs including in her current employment. She serves as the Vice President on the Board of Directors for PAMA and on the education committee for PAMA. Leslie instructs the Advanced Strata Management course; Commercial Property Management course (May to August term); and alternately Property Management Residential.

 

 

Melanie Stefiuk Account Executive, Strata Division, HUB International Insurance Brokers

For Melanie Stefiuk, listening to her clients’ needs and responding accordingly has been a major component of her success. Making her first top-five appearances on IBC’s Elite Brokers list, Stefiuk has more than 20 years of experience in insurance. In 2002, she joined the broker side of the industry as a customer service representative in HUB International’s commercial insurance department.

Since then, Stefiuk has been promoted to commercial insurance marketer and commercial account manager, and in 2014, she joined HUB’s strata division, where she is currently an account executive. Today, Stefiuk is responsible for providing strata clients, including property managers and unit owners, with the best service and coverage.

 

 

Steve Storrey Managing Partner, BFL Canada

Steve began his insurance career in 2001 with a large property and casualty insurance company and joined BFL in 2003. Today, Steve is a Managing Partner with BFL, his current responsibilities include providing insurance and risk management expertise to clients in the Real Estate sector in addition to managing and supporting a rapidly growing sales team within BFL’s Real Estate division.

Steve’s team focuses on insurance programs and solutions for regional and national property management firms, commercial buildings owners, strata/condominium corporations and apartment building owners. Steve and his team is also active in supporting the real estate community through associations such as PAMA, CHOA, REIC, CCI, BOMA and LANDLORD BC.
